Leading Race-Conscious School Improvement Workshop Frequently Asked Questions
Leading Race-Conscious School Improvement Workshop FAQ Heading link
Who can be on the team?
We invite K-12 school leadership teams made up of principals, assistant principals, department chairs, instructional leaders, building leaders, and more to apply to the program. We ask that a principal or assistant principal be a part of the team who attends LRCSI.
The team lead who is applying to LRCSI for the team can be any member of the team; the lead person does not have to be a principal or assistant principal.
How many people can be on a team?
We invite teams of 3-4 to apply. We will review applications for people applying by themselves, but we encourage those folks to work with other leaders in their schools to attend as a team.
What is the cost of attendance?
The cost of attendance is $600 per person. We highly encourage people to use professional development funds to pay for the workshop.
Scholarships are available!
What information will we need to fill out the LRCSI application?
Here is the information you need to gather to fill out the LRCSI application:
- Lead contact’s information
- Question 1: Briefly, what prior work, if any, have you and/or your team done on racial justice in your school? (100 words maximum)
- Question 2: What goals do you have for yourself and/or your team in this workshop? (50 words maximum)
- Each team member’s information: full name, email address, and position of the team member in the following format: Olivia Lewis, olivia.lewis@school.edu, Assistant Principal

When is the LRCSI Workshop?
The LRCSI Workshop will be held June 16-18, 2025, at the University of Illinois Chicago. Participants will be in sessions from 9am-4pm CT each day.
Will participants receive professional learning/development credits?
As of September 2024, we are writing the proposal to become an Administrator Academy so that principals will be able to receive that credit and/or potentially continuing professional development units on completion of the workshop.
K-12 teachers who are a part of the team will be able to receive CPDUs on completion of the workshop.
