About

Justin is a Master of Urban Planning and Policy student at UIC, and his academic and professional focus is housing justice. He studies the influence of financial capital on urban real estate and housing dynamics; the mechanics of gentrification and ghettoization; and the reproduction of race and class hierarchies in urban housing. He is currently working on a thesis examining the effects of speculative investment in multifamily apartment buildings in Chicago's historically disinvested communities. He takes an interdisciplinary approach, drawing from interests in political economy, spatial analysis, urban economics, and socio-legal studies.

Justin graduated magna cum laude from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Environmental & Urban Studies, Public Policy, and Geography. He previously worked with UIC's Voorhees Center.
