A recent WBEZ article highlighted findings from our report on Black population loss in Chicago. “Chicago had this confluence of factors as a union town, as a city with a lot of manufacturing jobs that offered stable middle-class employment for many new workers, which offered stability that they were seeking,” said Scarborough, who authored a report on Black population loss in Chicago published by UIC’s Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy. “And then it creates this sort of immigration pathway.”
