In addition to our State of Racial Justice in Chicago Project, IRRPP also undertakes research projects to analyze racial dynamics at the request of and in collaboration with government agencies, community partners, policy institutes, and other UIC units.

We do this work grounded in an understanding that collective action and transformative work are necessary to bring about greater equity, especially as racial inequities are pervasive, persistent, and consequential, affecting the lives of people in every community, city, county, and state. Racial inequities have spatial outlines that affect where people can live, work, go to school, and access healthcare. They have deep historical roots, are embedded in all our social institutions, and impact all our social interactions. As such, they have powerful effects on the lived experiences and opportunities of all U.S. residents.
