L. Boyd Bellinger

L. Boyd Bellinger is a doctoral student studying the social foundations of education in UIC’s College of Education. While at UIC, he has worked on projects exploring the experiences of queer and transgender youth with bullying and harassment; school discipline; policing; and the criminal legal system. His current research looks at the ways that urban branch libraries serve as community-based educational spaces. Boyd has taught courses in the colleges of education at both UIC and DePaul University. Before coming to UIC, he worked as a newspaper researcher and archivist. Boyd received a BA in theatre from Middlebury College in Vermont; a postgraduate diploma in directing from Mountview Theatre School in London; a master of library and information science (MLIS) from the Information School at the University of Washington; and a master of education (M.Ed.) from UIC.
