Interactive maps and the U.S. Census have a lot to contribute to classroom conversations about history and society, both in local communities and nationally. These powerful tools can be used for teaching a variety of topics, course subjects, and content areas that deal with populations, demographics, and economics. UIC’s American Migrations Project is a resource to support instructors and students in using these interactive maps to study African American and Latino migrations that have shaped American history. Examples of curriculum resources and teaching ideas will be shared in these two sessions, so if you can't make it to one, hopefully you can make it to the other!
